I recently turned 18 and expected the child restrictions on my iPhone to disappear. However, I still can't sign out of my Apple account, and some apps and settings require a Screen Time passcode. I'm estranged from the parent who originally bought the phone and manages the family account, so I can't ask them to make changes. Is there any way to remove these restrictions or leave the family group on my own?

There are two separate things here. Family Sharing age-related settings may update when you become an adult, but Screen Time restrictions placed directly on the device do not automatically disappear. The person who set the Screen Time passcode normally has to turn them off.
The family organizer or parent who manages the account generally has to remove the restrictions or update your account. Turning 18 doesn’t automatically disable every control.
If you’re unable to get the family organizer to release the account and you can’t sign out, the remaining practical option may be to contact Apple Support about your specific account situation. Creating a separate Apple Account and setting up the phone again can also be an option, but it may mean losing access to purchases and data tied to the old account.
That’s the issue—I’m estranged from that parent because of an abusive situation, so I can’t ask them to change it.
