I'm running a Ryzen 7 3700X with an ASUS Turbo RTX 3080 10GB, 32GB of dual-channel DDR4-3600, two SSDs, and a 750W Gold-rated Seasonic power supply. I can get a Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition for €300, and it should be a drop-in upgrade for my B550 motherboard. Would it make a noticeable difference in Unreal Engine 5 stuttering and 1% lows? I'm also wondering how much CPU bottlenecking I might see at 1080p and 1440p, and whether another AM4 X3D chip would offer better value.

The 5800X3D is a substantial upgrade from the 3700X, especially for frame-time consistency and 1% lows. Benchmarks comparing older Ryzen chips with the 5800X3D show meaningful gains, and the extra cache can help reduce stutter in CPU-limited games. At 1080p you’re more likely to run into a CPU limit with an RTX 3080; at 1440p the improvement will depend more on the game and graphics settings.
It may also be worth checking whether a 5600X3D or 5500X3D is available in your region. Those chips can offer much of the gaming benefit for less money, although availability varies considerably. If neither is easy to find, €300 for a 5800X3D is still a reasonable drop-in upgrade if smoother frame times matter to you.
