Is it better to upgrade to an i7 12700 and keep the 6700XT, or switch to a 5600X and get a 9070XT?

I'm facing a tough choice for my 1440p gaming setup. Currently, I have a Ryzen 5 5600X paired with a 6700XT and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, all powered by a 550W PSU. I've come across an offer to buy an i7 12700 along with 32GB of DDR5 RAM for $300, but I'm unsure if I should take that upgrade and stick with the 6700XT for another year. Alternatively, I could sell the i7 and upgrade to a 9070XT. I'm also considering the possibility of selling everything and getting something more up-to-date. What do you think I should do?

I have the same setup with an i7 and a 9070XT, and I don’t have any issues. Just keep in mind you might need to upgrade your CPU down the road.

I’d go for the 9070XT and also grab a new PSU. With a solid upgrade like that, you'll be set for a while without bottlenecks.

Definitely look into getting the 9070XT and undervolting it. Just make sure you also upgrade to at least a 750W PSU to handle it well.

You can snag a good PSU for around $80. Aim for 750-850W. At 1440p, your GPU will be the key factor for performance.
