I'm considering upgrading my PC and would appreciate some advice. My current build has a Ryzen 9 5950X, an RTX 4070, 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory, a 500GB M.2 SSD, and a 1TB M.2 SSD. I currently play at 1440p and get good performance in all my games, but I'm interested in moving to 4K and would like to know whether this system can realistically maintain 60 FPS. GPU and memory prices are currently very high where I live, so I'm unsure whether upgrading now makes sense or if I should wait a couple of years.

Your CPU is still more than capable for 4K gaming. The main upgrade would be the graphics card, since 4K puts much more pressure on the GPU. Something around an RX 9070 XT would offer roughly a 30% performance improvement over the RTX 4070 and could make 4K/60 much more practical, depending on the game and settings.
Modern AMD drivers are generally fine for normal gaming. There can still be occasional game-specific bugs, but I wouldn’t treat driver reliability as a reason to avoid the card outright.
Whether it’s worth upgrading depends mostly on your monitor, the games you play, and how much you value higher image quality. If you already have a 4K display and want high settings with a stable 60 FPS, a GPU upgrade can be worthwhile. Otherwise, your RTX 4070 is still a good 1440p card, and waiting for better prices is completely reasonable.
You already have a very strong system, so there’s no urgent need to replace the platform. At 4K, the 5950X should hold up well as long as you pair it with a sufficiently powerful GPU. If you upgrade, spend the budget on the graphics card rather than replacing the CPU, motherboard, and memory.
That makes sense. I’ll probably focus on finding a worthwhile GPU deal and wait on a full platform upgrade until memory prices and the rest of the system make more sense.
I’ve heard AMD cards offer great performance for the price, but I’m sometimes concerned about driver problems. Are those issues still common, or are they mostly a thing of the past?
