Is Kdenlive safe to install on Fedora?

I want to start editing videos on Fedora, and Kdenlive looks like a good option. However, I have an uneasy feeling that it might not be safe. I know it is developed by KDE, and I would install it through KDE Discover, but I would appreciate some reassurance about its safety and whether there are any precautions I should take.

I have used the Flatpak version for years without problems. Flatpak can also be useful because tools such as Flatseal let you review and restrict the files and devices Kdenlive can access. Some optional features, such as AI-assisted subtitles, require you to deliberately install and configure an additional backend; they are not automatically active in the basic installation.

There is no specific safety issue indicated here. Kdenlive is a well-established open-source video editor developed by the KDE project and packaged for many major Linux distributions. If there is a particular warning, report, or behavior causing concern, sharing that detail would make it possible to address the concern directly rather than guessing about a vague feeling.

Kdenlive is generally considered safe, especially when installed from Fedora’s official repositories or another verified KDE distribution source. The package is maintained and signed through the normal software distribution process, so it is not fundamentally different from installing something like Firefox that way. The main thing is to make sure you are using an official source rather than an untrusted download.

That assumes the installation is coming from an official channel. Checking the package source and signature is still a good precaution.
