I'm in the United States and currently have a PC with an Intel i7-14700F, RTX 4080 Super, and 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory. I mainly play newer AAA games at 1440p. Given current GPU prices, I'm considering changing platforms to AM5 with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and replacing the 4080 Super with a Radeon RX 9070 XT. Would this result in a noticeable performance drop at 1440p? Is the trade likely to make financial sense, and roughly how much extra money might I need to add? I'm also wondering whether a combination such as a 7800X3D and RTX 5070 Ti would be a better upgrade path. I'm mainly interested in long-term upgradeability, since the 14700F platform has fewer future CPU options.

The 4080 Super is faster overall than both the RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti, so swapping GPUs would generally be a downgrade rather than an upgrade. Your i7-14700F is also more than capable of driving a 4080 Super at 1440p, especially in demanding AAA games. Unless you have a specific need for AMD features or more CPU-focused performance, changing platforms would likely cost money without improving gaming performance.
My main concern is future upgradeability, since AM5 gives me a newer platform. At 1440p, I was wondering whether the GPU differences would be small enough to make the switch worthwhile, but I understand that the 4080 Super is still the stronger card overall.
