I spilled roughly a shot glass of root beer onto the keyboard of my Dell G15. I immediately unplugged it, shut it down, turned it upside down, and wiped up the visible liquid. It has been sitting keyboard-side down on a paper towel, which is still dry. I tried opening the laptop but one screw was too tight, so I stopped. The area I could see appears dry, and the spill was away from the battery. Should I buy a better precision screwdriver and 90%+ isopropyl alcohol to inspect and clean the inside, take it to a repair shop, or is it safe to start using normally again?

I would not immediately go back to gaming just because the outside looks dry. Root beer leaves sugar behind, and even a small amount can cause sticky keys, corrosion, or a short if it reached the motherboard. A decent precision screwdriver set should help with the stripped or tight screw, and you can follow a teardown guide for the Dell G15. With the battery disconnected, inspect the area under the keyboard and clean any residue with 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol. The keyboard itself is often a sealed assembly, so replacing it may be the practical solution if the keys become sticky. Be careful removing keycaps because their clips are fragile.
I’d lean toward having a repair shop inspect it, especially because sugary drinks can cause problems later even when there is no visible moisture. The keyboard may work now and then develop sticking or corrosion after residue remains underneath it. Keep the laptop powered off and disconnected until it has been properly checked; simply leaving it upside down is not enough to remove the sugar.
I managed to lift the bottom cover partway and the visible area near the spill looks completely dry. It was also away from the battery, but I’ll get a better screwdriver and inspect it more carefully before powering it back on.
