I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card and am deciding between the Radeon 9070 GRE for $530 and the standard Radeon 9070 for $630. I'll mainly be gaming at 1440p. Is the extra $100 worthwhile for the performance and longer-term value?

The difference may not matter much immediately, but having 16GB of VRAM on the 9070 could be very useful in a few years. If the extra cost doesn’t affect the rest of your build, the standard 9070 is the safer choice for 1440p gaming.

At $530 versus $630, the 9070 costs about 19% more for around 18% more performance, which is a pretty reasonable deal in the GPU market. The extra VRAM also gives it better long-term value, so I’d spend the additional $100.

I’d go with the 9070 if you can comfortably afford the extra $100. It’s roughly 15–18% faster, has more VRAM, and should hold up better as newer games become more demanding. For a 1440p-focused build, that’s a meaningful upgrade.
