My RTX 2060 Super seems to be nearing the end of its life, so I'm considering an upgrade. I can get an RX 9060 XT with 16GB of VRAM for about $495 USD locally. An 8GB RTX 5060 costs roughly the same, while faster cards such as the RX 9070 or 9070 GRE are considerably more expensive here. Is the 9060 XT 16GB a reasonable purchase at this price, especially for modern games and future-proofing?

Compared with the 2060 Super, expect a noticeable but not revolutionary rasterization upgrade. The extra VRAM is probably the bigger advantage: 8GB cards are already running into limits in some modern titles, especially at higher settings. Better ray tracing, upscaling, and frame-generation support can also make the newer card feel much faster in supported games.
I’d first check the price of an RX 9070 or 9070 GRE locally. If one is only around $100–$150 more, it could offer roughly 40–50% more performance and be the better long-term purchase. However, if those cards cost much more in your country, the 9060 XT 16GB is still a reasonable upgrade over an aging 2060 Super, particularly when an 8GB RTX 5060 costs the same.
The important comparison is your local market, not US pricing. If the RTX 5060 8GB costs the same, the 9060 XT 16GB is the more sensible choice because it gives you more VRAM and should hold up better in newer games. It may not be an amazing deal in absolute terms, but local alternatives matter more.
