If gaming performance is the top priority, compare the 270K Plus against the specifically gaming-focused X3D options rather than assuming the 9950X3D is automatically the best choice. For a balanced workstation, the Intel processor looks like the stronger value, while AMD makes more sense if you regularly chase maximum high-refresh gaming performance.
I use both platforms for 3D work, and the 270K Plus is faster for CPU-based rendering and scores higher in Cinebench R23. It’s also perfectly good for gaming; the 3D V-Cache simply gives AMD an edge in some games. For applications such as ZBrush, the Intel chip’s stronger real-time performance can be useful. Either system would be excellent, but the motherboard is especially important for a creator-focused build. Look for a board with a suitable PCIe layout, strong memory support, fast networking, and enough connectivity for your storage and graphics cards. If you plan to use very large amounts of RAM or multiple GPUs, verify those details before choosing the board.
