I want to stop using my iPhone 11 as my main camera because its 64GB storage is mostly consumed by apps, WhatsApp data, photos, and videos. I like the convenience and image quality of a phone camera, but I would prefer a dedicated camera so my photos and recordings are kept separate from my phone.
Ideally, I'm looking for something compact and fairly slim enough to carry in a pocket, with a larger screen for reviewing and composing shots, a front-facing or flip-screen selfie option, and better image quality than my current phone. I've looked at cameras such as the Insta360 and Kandao QooCam, but their screens seem too small, and some lack a practical selfie setup. Does a good-quality camera like this exist, or am I realistically better off buying another phone or a compact point-and-shoot?

The closest practical option may honestly be a second, older smartphone. Cameras with a phone-like interface, large touchscreen, built-in storage, and easy selfies are uncommon because that combination is basically what smartphones are designed around. A spare phone would also let you use cloud storage, a large microSD card if supported, and familiar editing or sharing apps without filling your main phone.
You could also solve the storage problem rather than replacing the camera. A USB-C or Lightning-compatible storage drive, computer backup, or cloud photo library would let you keep the originals without constantly deleting things. It’s less convenient than having everything on the phone, but it’s usually far cheaper than buying a dedicated camera that behaves like a phone.
If you want a real camera, look at premium compact models with flip-up or fully articulating screens. Cameras such as the Sony ZV-1, Sony ZV-1F, or Canon PowerShot G7 X series are much smaller than most interchangeable-lens cameras and can work well for selfies and video. They still won’t feel exactly like an iPhone, though, and a good one can cost about as much as a phone.
