I'm putting together my first gaming PC and would appreciate a sanity check before buying. I'm considering a Micro Center bundle with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Gigabyte B850 Gaming X WiFi6E motherboard, and 32GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 memory. The rest of the build includes a PNY GeForce RTX 5070 12GB, Lian Li Vector V100 RGB case, Montech Century II 850W ATX 3.1 Gold modular power supply, and a Thermalright Assassin X 120R Digital air cooler. The bundle is listed at $879.99, with the graphics card around $620 and the other components priced separately. Is this a well-balanced build, and should I change the cooler or graphics card? I'm also trying to make sure everything will fit properly in the case.

The RTX 5070 is difficult to recommend at roughly $620. The Radeon RX 9070 is usually a little faster in standard gaming, includes more VRAM, and can cost less. The 9070 XT is also worth considering if you can find one near the $650 range. Nvidia still makes more sense if you specifically need features such as CUDA, DLSS, or better ray-tracing support.
The Assassin X is a bit undersized for a 9800X3D. It may work, but a dual-tower cooler such as the Thermalright Phantom Spirit or Peerless Assassin would provide noticeably better temperatures and quieter operation for not much more money.
The core parts are compatible, and an 850W ATX 3.1 power supply is plenty for either graphics card. Check the exact GPU length and thickness against the case’s maximum clearance, especially if you choose a larger triple-fan Radeon model. Also verify the memory kit is a matched 2x16GB DDR5-6000 kit and enable its EXPO profile after installing it.
Aren’t the two GPUs fairly similar overall, with Radeon offering more raw performance? I’m mainly worried about whether a larger card will fit in the case.
