Hey everyone,

I've had my PC for a couple of years now, and I really enjoy gaming on it. However, since I work full-time and have two kids, I don't have a lot of time to dive deep into hardware specifics. I could really use your help with upgrading my system.

Here are my current specs:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- **GPU:** RTX 3070 Ventus 3X OC
- **RAM:** 16GB GSkill Ripjaws DDR4
- **Motherboard:** MSI B450-A PRO MAX
- **Power Supply:** 650W Corsair TX650M

I suspect that my RAM and CPU might be the bottlenecks. What do you think would be the most logical next steps?

I have a budget of up to 500 euros, but I would prefer to stay under 300.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Upgrading to a CPU like the 5600 or 5700X would be an excellent match for your RTX 3070. Increasing your RAM to 32GB could also be beneficial, since it can help with performance depending on your gaming habits.

Are you actually feeling performance issues in your current setup? If you're playing grand strategy games and notice long loading times or FPS dips in crowded scenes, then upgrading could really be worthwhile. Just be sure that it aligns with what you need out of your gaming experience.

You might also want to consider the 5500X3D, which can often be found at reasonable prices on sites like AliExpress. For your usage, I'm betting 32GB of RAM would enhance your experience a lot, but you'll do fine with 16GB for most games if you manage background applications well.

Keep in mind that your B450 motherboard is compatible with all AM4 CPUs, so there’s no need to swap it out. Upgrading to a R5 5500 might not be a worthwhile move since it performs similarly to your current 3600X in most tasks.

Consider picking up a used 5800X or XT if you can find a good deal. And definitely look into adding another set of 2x8GB RAM sticks to get that 32GB total, which can make a noticeable difference!
