I just finished building a new PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. On the first startup, the CPU debug LED came on and the system powered itself off after about one second. The motherboard is a B650 Aorus Elite AX Ice. What should I check first to find the cause?

The board may need a BIOS update to support the 7800X3D properly, especially if it has older firmware. Check the exact BIOS version currently installed and use the motherboard’s BIOS Flashback feature if an update is required. The B650 Aorus Elite AX Ice supports this, so you may be able to update it without successfully booting into the system.

Start with the basics: try booting with only one RAM stick installed, testing the recommended slot and then another slot if needed. Also double-check that the 24-pin motherboard cable and the CPU EPS power cable are fully connected. Inspect the CPU socket for bent pins as well.

The power cables are connected and I don’t see any bent pins. I haven’t tested with a single RAM stick yet, so I’ll try that next.
