My ASUS laptop suddenly has no audio at all. Videos on both YouTube and another news site play normally, but I can't hear anything through either my headphones or the built-in speakers. I've checked that the videos aren't muted, volume is turned up, and unplugging the headphones didn't help. Should I simply restart the laptop, or are there other settings or fixes I should try?

First check your system’s sound settings and make sure the correct output device is selected. Windows may be sending audio to a different monitor, Bluetooth device, or disconnected headset. Also verify the system volume and app-specific volume levels.
A restart is worth trying, since it can clear up a temporary audio service or driver problem. If the sound still doesn’t work afterward, open Device Manager, expand the sound devices section, and uninstall the audio device or driver. Restart Windows and let it detect and reinstall the driver automatically.
Thanks for the advice. I’ll try restarting first and then check the audio driver if needed.

I’ll check the output device and volume settings.
