I moved an older PC into a new case for my nephew, and it will be used with a Hisense smart TV. The TV displays the computer normally, and Windows detects audio activity when the TV is selected as the output device, but no sound comes from the TV speakers. The system has an MSI motherboard and a GeForce GTX 1650 with one HDMI port. I installed the motherboard drivers, updated Windows, checked Device Manager, confirmed the TV is enabled and set as the default playback device, and tried several known-good HDMI cables. The TV appears in Windows as the 6Series58 display through NVIDIA High Definition Audio. I also tested another similar TV with the same result, while the PC's front and rear headphone outputs work normally. What else should I check to get HDMI audio working?

Double-check the Windows playback devices and make sure the TV is selected as the default output. Some systems show the same television under more than one name, such as the TV model and a Realtek or digital-output entry, and only one of them may actually work.
In the classic Windows Sound control panel, check both the Playback and Disabled Devices sections. Enable NVIDIA High Definition Audio if it is disabled, open its properties, and verify that the supported formats and sample rate are set to something basic such as stereo PCM. Also check the TV's HDMI audio format and set it to PCM or Stereo instead of an incompatible surround mode.
Try the basic hardware checks anyway: reboot the computer while the TV is already connected, try another HDMI cable and port, and confirm the TV is not muted and is set to use its internal speakers rather than another audio device. Since another known-good cable and another TV were already tested, the PC's HDMI audio configuration or driver is becoming the more likely cause.
I have rebooted repeatedly, tried three cables including one that works with another computer, and tested another TV. The TV is using its built-in speakers and is not muted.
Because the display works but HDMI audio fails on two televisions, reinstall the NVIDIA graphics driver and make sure the HDMI audio component is included. A clean installation can repair a missing or corrupted NVIDIA High Definition Audio driver. The motherboard audio drivers will not control audio carried through the GTX 1650's HDMI output.
The TV only appears once for me, listed as NVIDIA High Definition Audio, and selecting it still produces no sound.
