Phone Keeps Booting Into Recovery Mode Because of a Broken Volume Button

I have a Realme 11 Pro+ whose volume button broke about nine months ago. Since then, the volume has occasionally changed by itself, but now the phone keeps entering recovery mode whenever I try to start it after the battery died. I suspect the damaged volume-down switch is stuck, although the button does not seem to work in the recovery menu. I have already tried restarting with the power and volume buttons several times. How can I get the phone to boot normally, preferably quickly, because I need access to a pickup code today?

For the pickup today, try signing into the carrier or retailer account from another phone or computer to retrieve the code. Depending on the service, the pickup location may also be able to verify you with identification and the tracking information while the phone is being repaired.

The broken volume-down switch is probably stuck in the pressed position. On many Realme phones, holding volume down while powering on opens recovery mode. Try charging the phone for 20–30 minutes, then hold only the power button for about 15–20 seconds without touching either volume key. If the damaged button piece is visibly pressing the switch, gently lift or remove it with a fingernail or thin plastic tool. Avoid forcing it further into the frame. A small amount of proper electronics isopropyl alcohol may help clean around the switch, but do not use drinking alcohol or pour liquid into the phone.

Charging and holding the power button did not change anything. I tried freeing the button, but the remaining volume-down piece broke off, and the phone still goes straight to recovery.

If it still enters recovery with the button piece removed, the internal switch may be physically stuck or damaged. At that point, a repair shop will likely need to disconnect or replace the volume-button flex cable. It is usually a quick repair, and repeatedly forcing the buttons could cause more damage.

If the recovery screen is touch-enabled, tap the Reboot or Restart option directly rather than using the volume keys. If that does not work and the phone continues returning to recovery, the damaged button hardware is the most likely cause rather than a software setting. Do not choose a factory reset unless your data is backed up, since that could erase everything.
