My Razer BlackWidow V4 X suddenly started behaving strangely while I was watching a video. It seemed to trigger screen-printing and caused unexpected browser behavior, such as opening links in new tabs. After restarting the computer, I discovered that several keys no longer register: P, Space, [, ;, comma, period, slash, and the entire number pad. I've restarted the computer, checked Sticky Keys and Filter Keys, tried the keyboard shortcuts involving Fn, Num Lock, and F11/F12, updated and reinstalled the drivers, and changed a Windows setting from 3 to 1 based on troubleshooting instructions. None of that helped. Could this be a stuck modifier key, debris or liquid contamination, or a failing keyboard?

This pattern could be caused by a stuck Ctrl or other modifier key, especially given the strange browser behavior. Open the Windows on-screen keyboard by pressing Win+R, entering “osk,” and checking whether Ctrl, Alt, or another modifier appears active. Also try a different physical keyboard; if that works normally, the Razer keyboard is the likely problem. Since you were eating nearby, unplug it and inspect or carefully clean around the affected keys—debris or residue can cause multiple keys to misbehave.
The combination of several unrelated keys failing, including the whole number pad, points more toward a physical keyboard problem than a driver issue. A spill, food debris, or a damaged internal key matrix can affect groups of keys at once. Test the keyboard on another computer if possible, and test a different keyboard on this computer. If another keyboard works, clean the affected board only while it is unplugged; if the problem remains, replacement may be more practical than repairing it.
That makes sense. I’ll test another keyboard first and then decide whether cleaning or replacing this one is worthwhile.
I checked the on-screen keyboard, but none of the modifier keys appear highlighted. Could another hardware problem cause the same symptoms?
