Prices could go either way. Remaining stock might sell out and make new units more expensive, but if enough are available, retailers could eventually move them toward $300. Since nobody can predict the timing, I wouldn’t wait several months expecting a huge discount. Used units are the more likely place to find a meaningful saving.

I wouldn’t assume the 5800X3D will get cheaper just because it’s an older processor. Historically, these high-demand AM4 gaming chips often disappear from stores instead of receiving large discounts. If $350 is affordable and you specifically want the fastest simple AM4 upgrade, buying now is reasonable; otherwise, set a target price and wait for a sale.

For a system built around a Ryzen 5 5600, compare the 5800X3D with the 5500X3D and your local prices. The 5500X3D may be a sensible cheaper upgrade, but the 5800X3D offers stronger overall performance and is the better choice if you want to keep the platform for a while. If you’re building mostly from scratch, moving to AM5 is usually a better long-term investment than paying a premium for an older AM4 processor.

If you’re already on AM4, the 5800X3D is still one of the best drop-in gaming upgrades. Around $300 would be a very good price. At $350, I’d only buy immediately if you need the performance now; otherwise, waiting for a sale or restock makes sense. I wouldn’t expect a dramatic price crash, since production and availability have been inconsistent.
