Should I buy an RTX 5080 now or wait for a possible Super or Ti model?

If the 5080 is available at a price you’re happy with, it makes sense to finish the build now. A Super or Ti version could be delayed, sell out immediately, or launch at a much higher price without adding much beyond extra cores and power consumption.

There isn’t enough reliable information about a 5080 Super or Ti to make a recommendation. Its release, price, VRAM, and performance are all uncertain. If you need a GPU now and €1,200 is a fair price for the performance you want, buy the 5080. Otherwise, wait only if you’re comfortable potentially waiting much longer.

The main reason to wait would be VRAM. At 4K, and particularly with demanding VR simulators, 16GB may become limiting over time. But unless you’re prepared to spend around €1,400–€1,800 or move up to a higher-tier card, waiting for an unannounced model is a gamble.

I’d lean toward buying now. A future model would probably cost considerably more than €1,200, especially if memory and GPU prices rise, and it may not offer a huge performance improvement. Rumors also don’t guarantee that the card will actually launch.

I had the same dilemma and bought a 5080 when I found one for roughly €1,030. I’ve had no regrets, so a €1,200 model seems reasonable if you need the card and don’t want to keep waiting for rumors to become real.
