I'm upgrading from a GTX 1050 Ti, and my budget is very limited. Where I live, the two realistic options are a Biostar RX 6600 or a better-known-brand RTX 3050 with 6GB of VRAM. I'd prefer the RX 6600 because it is considerably faster, but I'm concerned about Biostar's reputation for noisy coolers and poor temperatures. The RTX 3050 6GB is available from more reputable manufacturers, although it seems to offer poor performance for the price. I mainly play Palworld, Elden Ring and other Souls games, plus some competitive games with friends, generally at 1080p rather than with demanding graphics settings. Do you think the RX 6600 would be reliable enough to last several years, or would the better-built RTX 3050 be a safer purchase? Replacing a failed card would be difficult because I'd need to save for months again.

The RX 6600’s 8GB of VRAM is also more comfortable for newer games than the 3050 6GB. A used RX 5700 XT or a slightly more expensive RX 7600 could be worth checking if local prices are reasonable, but between these two cards, the RX 6600 is the clear recommendation.
I would only choose the RTX 3050 if it were substantially cheaper, had a much better warranty, or you specifically needed Nvidia features. Otherwise, paying extra for a nicer cooler on a card with much worse performance is not really safer value. Just make sure the RX 6600 has a genuine warranty and adequate case airflow.
Go with the RX 6600. In normal rasterized gaming, it is roughly 70–80% faster than the RTX 3050 6GB, so the difference will be very noticeable at 1080p. The 3050 is mainly attractive because of the brand options, not because it offers good performance for the money.
A weaker cooler is usually easier to deal with than a much slower GPU. With a case that has decent airflow, you can use a sensible fan curve, and repasting or replacing thermal pads is possible later if necessary. The RX 6600 also does not use much power, so it should not be an especially hot card in the first place.
Biostar is more of a budget manufacturer, but that does not automatically mean the card will fail. Check the exact model, its warranty, and return policy. If it is new or comes from a trustworthy seller, the RX 6600 is the better choice. If it is secondhand, stress-test it before committing and check temperatures, fan noise, artifacts and stability.
