I currently have a Ryzen 7 5800X and plan to upgrade to an RX 9070 XT. The system should draw roughly 500W under load, based on the CPU and GPU power ratings. I also need to replace my PSU and would like to keep the new one for its full 10-year warranty, with some room for future upgrades. Would a quality 850W unit be sufficient, or would 1000W be a better long-term choice? I'm also looking for reliable PSU brands and specific models in this range. My new case will be a white O11-style build, so a white PSU and attractive, well-made cables would be a bonus. I've considered Lian Li's Edge series and some NZXT C-series models, but conflicting test results and tier lists have made me cautious about spending a lot on a unit that could fail catastrophically.

A quality 850W PSU should be more than enough for a 5800X and 9070 XT. Similar systems are running comfortably on 750W or 850W units. Unless you expect to move to an extremely high-end flagship GPU later, 850W is a sensible choice.
For brands, Seasonic and Super Flower are strong choices with good reputations. Montech’s Century II 1050W is another option people have had positive experiences with, especially when it’s discounted. Check the exact model’s independent testing rather than relying only on a general brand reputation or tier list.
If the price difference is reasonable, I’d choose a good 1000W or 1050W ATX 3.1 unit and avoid worrying about future power increases. It won’t use more electricity simply because it has a higher wattage rating, and the extra capacity gives you more flexibility later.
For a white build, the PSU itself doesn’t have to be perfectly white if you’re using extensions or cable replacements. A reliable black, silver, or white 850W–1050W fully modular PSU with good native GPU cabling may be a better choice than selecting a unit purely for its appearance. Make sure it supports ATX 3.1 and use the correct cable for the graphics card.
The Lian Li Edge is appealing mainly because of the white finish and included cables, but reliability and the specific model’s test results matter more than matching the case.
That makes sense for the current system, but since I’d like to keep the PSU for around 10 years, I’m still tempted to choose 1000W for extra upgrade headroom.
