I'm building a gaming PC and have narrowed the GPU choice down to the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or RTX 5070, since either one fits my budget without compromising the rest of the system. I'm not especially sensitive to frame rates above 60 FPS, and I'm more interested in stable performance than maximum settings, ray tracing, or extremely high refresh rates. Ideally, I'd like to play AAA games at 1440p and around 60 FPS on high settings for the next five or six years, though I understand that future games and optimization will affect that. I'm comfortable using DLSS, frame generation, dynamic resolution, and occasionally ray tracing if the visual improvements are worth the performance cost. I also usually wait a year or two for games to become cheaper, so I won't necessarily be playing every demanding title at launch. The RTX 5070 is roughly 20–30% faster, but it has 12GB of VRAM compared with the 5060 Ti's 16GB. Since I probably won't be able to upgrade for several years, which card is more likely to remain useful over the long term?

I’d lean toward the RTX 5070. The extra GPU performance will matter more immediately and should help it maintain higher frame rates as games become more demanding. More VRAM does not automatically make the 5060 Ti faster, and you can usually extend the 5070’s useful life by lowering texture quality or a few other settings. Either card will probably need upscaling or frame generation in demanding games several years from now.
The 16GB 5060 Ti could age better if future games become heavily VRAM-limited. It may still reach 60 FPS at 1440p in a few years, but you’ll likely need to reduce settings sooner because its core performance is substantially lower. The 5070 gives you more performance now, while the 5060 Ti gives you more memory headroom later, so this depends on whether you value current performance or potential longevity more.
I’d also compare AMD’s RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT if they’re available at a similar price in your area. They offer more VRAM and stronger raster performance than the 5070, although Nvidia generally has an advantage in ray tracing and its upscaling and frame-generation features are more mature.
For a five- or six-year plan, neither card is guaranteed to run every future AAA game at 1440p high settings and a locked 60 FPS. The realistic approach is to expect settings adjustments, upscaling, and possibly frame generation. If the 5070 and 5060 Ti cost close to the same, I’d choose the 5070 for its stronger performance unless you specifically expect to play games with unusually high VRAM requirements.
AMD cards are harder to find where I live, but I’ll consider them. I’ve used DLSS and frame generation on my laptop without really noticing the artifacts or input issues people sometimes mention, so I’m comfortable continuing to use those features if they help performance over the years.
