Should I Keep the RX 9070 GRE or Upgrade to an RX 9070/9070 XT?

I'm trying to decide which graphics card offers the best value. I currently have an open-box XFX Swift RX 9070 GRE for $479.99, and it's still within the return window. The other open-box options are an ASRock Challenger RX 9070 for $569.96 and a Gigabyte Gaming OC RX 9070 XT for $656.96. Is the extra performance from the 9070 or 9070 XT worth paying more, or should I keep the GRE?

The RX 9070 XT is roughly 10–15% faster than the RX 9070, but it also draws more power and will generally run hotter. The extra cost only makes sense if that performance boost matters for your games, resolution, or refresh rate.

The best way to decide is to compare benchmarks for the games and resolution you care about, then calculate the performance gained per dollar. The 9070 GRE may already be the best value, but the answer depends on whether you want higher frame rates or better longevity. Several independent GPU reviews should give you a good comparison of the three cards.

Thanks, I’ll compare the benchmarks and work out how much the extra performance is costing me.

I’d return the GRE and go with the ASRock RX 9070. It costs more, but the standard 9070 is likely a better long-term choice without jumping all the way up to the XT’s price and power requirements.

That’s what I’m leaning toward at the moment.
