I'm currently running an RX 6700 XT, Ryzen 5 5600, 36 GB of DDR4 memory, and a 1 TB SSD on a B450M Micro-ATX motherboard. After about four years, the onboard audio quality has become poor, and I'm considering moving to a full-size ATX board. I'm looking at a B550-F DDR4 motherboard, but I'm unsure whether replacing the motherboard alone makes sense. Should I upgrade the CPU as well, move to a DDR5 platform, or simply wait until DDR5 memory and compatible parts become cheaper? Also, can my RX 6700 XT put excessive strain on the current motherboard or Ryzen 5 5600?

If the main problem is the onboard audio, you probably don’t need a new motherboard. A USB DAC, external sound card, or audio interface is usually the simplest solution and avoids electrical interference inside the case. Internal sound cards are less attractive than they used to be.
I’d keep the B450 board for now and replace the motherboard, CPU, and RAM together when you’re ready for a full platform upgrade. Moving from your current system to another DDR4 board would give you limited performance benefits unless you specifically need more expansion slots or features. Your RX 6700 XT is not putting harmful stress on the motherboard or CPU; those parts are designed to work together normally.
