I currently have a Zotac RTX 4060 Ti 8GB Spider-Man Edition with two fans. Someone offered to swap it for a Gigabyte RX 9060 XT 8GB with three fans that is about eight months old. Would this be a worthwhile trade, or would the performance difference be too small? Should I keep my 4060 Ti and save for an RX 9060 XT 16GB, or accept the swap and upgrade again later?

The upgrade only really becomes worthwhile when you move to something clearly faster, such as an RX 9070-class card or another higher-tier GPU. Even the 9060 XT 16GB may not justify its price unless you play at 1440p and are running into the 8GB VRAM limit.
The extra VRAM on the 16GB version is useful for future games, but don’t expect it alone to transform performance. If your current card is working well, waiting and saving for a larger performance jump is probably the better choice.
I wouldn’t make that swap. The performance increase is likely very small, while you would give up NVIDIA features such as CUDA and DLSS. The AMD card could make more sense if your particular games run noticeably better on AMD, or if you have an older CPU where NVIDIA’s driver overhead is a problem, but otherwise it’s not much of an upgrade.
If you’re going to change cards, aim for a 16GB model rather than moving from one 8GB card to another. That said, the 9060 XT 16GB still may not feel like a major upgrade from a 4060 Ti. Saving for a higher-tier card would provide a more noticeable jump.
I’d keep the 4060 Ti and save your money. The swap might only add a small amount of FPS, and the NVIDIA software features can be valuable for ray tracing, AI applications, Blender, and upscaling. I’d only consider the trade if you mainly play games that favor AMD or the other person adds cash.
That’s worth keeping in mind, but the 16GB model may also be outside the budget. If the goal is simply to avoid paying extra right now, there’s no strong reason to make the 8GB-for-8GB swap.
