Should I Underclock My PC to Reduce Heat While Playing Roblox?

I play Roblox on a fairly powerful PC, but it seems to get hotter than necessary even with the game set to about half graphics. My system has an Intel Core i7-10700K, 32 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080. The CPU and GPU usually sit around 50°C, and I have already made a small GPU adjustment around 1900 MHz at 850 mV. Should I underclock or undervolt further, or are there better ways to reduce power use and keep my room cooler during the summer? The room is around 80°F even though the air conditioning is set to 69–70°F. My case has two front fans, two top fans, one rear fan, and two fans below the graphics card.

Around 50°C is already an excellent temperature for both the CPU and GPU. There is no need to lower it further for component safety, especially if the system is stable and you are not experiencing throttling or noise problems.

If your goal is to cool the room, focus on reducing total power draw rather than chasing a lower temperature reading. A component running at 50°C while using 300 watts adds much more heat to the room than one at 50°C using 100 watts. Try capping Roblox's frame rate, setting a lower GPU power limit, or using a stable undervolt in MSI Afterburner. A frequency limit that flattens the voltage-frequency curve can also help. The same general idea applies to the CPU, though Intel's power-limit settings are usually adjusted through the motherboard software or BIOS.

Your listed fan setup sounds reasonable. Make sure the front fans are bringing air in, while the rear and top fans exhaust it. Keep dust filters and heatsinks clean, leave some space around the case, and check that the CPU cooler is properly mounted. For room temperature, reducing the PC's wattage and keeping sunlight out will help more than lowering an already-good 50°C reading. A frame-rate cap is an easy first step, and a GPU power limit can reduce heat across different games.
