I'm planning to upgrade only part of my PC for now rather than replacing everything at once. My current setup is a Ryzen 5 5600 paired with an RX 6750 XT. I'm considering either upgrading the platform to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D while keeping the RX 6750 XT, or buying an RX 9070 while keeping the Ryzen 5 5600. The cost of either upgrade would be roughly similar. I mostly play single-player games such as Spider-Man and Resident Evil, but I also play Fortnite, Dark and Darker, and Counter-Strike occasionally. Which upgrade would make the most sense first?

I’d start with the GPU. For most visually demanding single-player games, the RX 9070 should provide a larger improvement than moving from the Ryzen 5 5600 to a 7800X3D while keeping the 6750 XT. The 5600 is still a capable gaming CPU, especially if you’re playing at 1440p or higher. Upgrade the platform later when you’re ready for higher refresh-rate gaming or start seeing CPU limitations.
That makes sense. I’ve been playing more single-player games lately, although I still jump into Fortnite, Dark and Darker, and Counter-Strike from time to time.
