I have a job interview tomorrow and received a Webex meeting link. I've never used Webex before, and my only available devices are my employer-provided laptop and a tablet. The invitation specifically recommends using a laptop or PC, but I don't currently have access to a personal computer.
The meeting link opens successfully in my browser on the work laptop, and I can grant Webex permission to use the microphone and camera. I haven't joined yet because I'm worried that entering early might notify the interviewer. Could company security settings still block Webex after I join, even if the link and permissions work? Would using the tablet be safer despite the laptop recommendation? I'd appreciate advice on testing the setup and choosing the least risky option.

Don’t assume that a work laptop is private just because the meeting opens normally. Some organizations log application activity, capture periodic screenshots, or block features selectively. It’s safer to use a personal device whenever possible and to test it with another person ahead of time.
I’d avoid using an employer-owned computer for an interview with another company. It may work technically, but workplace devices can have monitoring, usage restrictions, or security tools that you don’t control. A tablet or phone is less likely to create an issue, although the smaller screen and camera angle may make the interview less convenient.
Run a Webex test meeting on the tablet before the interview. Check the app or browser, microphone, camera, speakers, internet connection, lighting, and how you’ll position the device. If you can borrow a personal laptop, that would be the best option, but a properly tested tablet should generally be usable unless the interviewer needs a specific laptop-only feature.
If the link loads and your browser recognizes the camera and microphone, the laptop will probably work. However, company security policies can still restrict recording, screen sharing, downloads, or other meeting features once you join. You generally won’t alert the interviewer just by opening the link; joining a lobby or test screen is usually separate from actually entering the meeting. Still, test everything beforehand if possible.
