I replaced the original hard drive in my Toshiba E45W-C4200X laptop with an SSD, but the system freezes and eventually displays a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION blue screen. I tested two different drives—a 1 TB TeamGroup SSD and a 250 GB Toshiba TR150—and both showed the same behavior after a fresh Windows installation. I have uploaded the available minidump files for analysis. What hardware, firmware, or driver issues should I check?

The dump suggests the system is hanging while processing BIOS ACPI/AML code rather than simply rejecting the SSD. Make sure Windows is fully updated, since the installation appears to be using an older Windows 10 release. Also check Toshiba/Dynabook's support page for the latest BIOS for this exact model; a firmware update may improve compatibility with newer SSDs and storage drivers.

The crash may be related to the laptop's dedicated graphics chip. Try booting into Safe Mode and disabling the discrete GPU in Device Manager temporarily. If Windows becomes stable afterward, the graphics hardware or its driver could be involved. Since this model only has dedicated graphics, disabling it may affect display output, so be prepared to re-enable it if the screen stops working properly.

Because two unrelated SSDs produce the same crash after clean installations, both drives being defective is unlikely. Check the SSD connection and caddy or adapter, confirm the controller is using the correct AHCI setting, and test the original hard drive if you still have it. If the original drive also crashes, the likely causes shift toward the SATA controller, motherboard, BIOS, or another device driver rather than the SSDs themselves.
