I installed Fedora 44 on my notebook for university coursework in informatics. The touchpad works normally on the login screen, but it disables itself immediately after I sign in. Is there a terminal command or another reliable way to find out why this happens and re-enable it?

Check the system logs for touchpad-related errors. You can inspect recent entries in /var/log with commands such as `ls -laFhtr`, then use `tail` on relevant log files and search for trackpad or input-device messages. Knowing the notebook model, touchpad hardware, and any error messages would make troubleshooting much easier.
First, try the laptop’s touchpad toggle shortcut. It’s usually one of the function keys, often combined with Fn. The touchpad may have been disabled accidentally after login.
