I'm looking for over-ear Bluetooth headphones with a few specific features: a comfortable fit, effective noise cancellation, and a companion app if possible. My budget is around $40. I'm hoping to find something that checks every box, but I'm open to recommendations that miss one requirement if they're otherwise a great value.

An app can be useful for adjusting the equalizer and controlling noise-cancellation settings. Some companion apps also include ambient sounds or built-in noise machines, so it isn’t just an unnecessary extra.
The Soundcore Q20 is probably your best bet around $40, though the newer Q20i may be the current equivalent. They offer Bluetooth, over-ear comfort, noise cancellation, and app support at a reasonable price. One caveat is durability: some people find the headphones or ear pads wear out after about a year, but the warranty is usually helpful. Replacement pads also last longer if they’re kept cool and dry.
Soundcore headphones are often available at Target, so they should be fairly easy to find without going over budget.
