I'm reusing a very old PC case with a front-panel controller that has two sliders, apparently for fan speed and LED lighting. One of the cables was damaged years ago, and I no longer remember what type it was. I think it may have been similar to a Molex-to-fan cable, but I'm not sure which connector or wiring arrangement is correct. The manufacturer no longer supports the case and cannot provide a manual. What cable should connect to this front-panel board, and how can I identify the missing connection safely?

If the missing connection is the two-pin socket labeled “POWER,” it likely needs a custom cable that connects a standard SATA or Molex power lead to that board connector. That exact cable may not be sold as a common off-the-shelf part, but it can be made if you identify the connector housing, pin spacing, and polarity first. Don’t connect power based only on the plug shape—verify the board’s voltage requirements and pinout.
The cable may instead have been part of the fan wiring, similar to a fan extension or fan-power adapter with a Molex connector. The front-panel controller could use the sliders to regulate power to the fans, while the lighting circuit may use a separate connection. Since the photo alone doesn’t clearly show what is missing, compare the empty sockets with the connectors on the remaining cables and trace where each board connection leads before replacing anything.
I’m not sure the missing lead was a JST cable or a simple two-pin connector. I remember it looking more like a fan cable with a Molex-style power plug, so I’ll need to trace the remaining fan and lighting wires carefully.
