I accidentally cut the 2-pin cable of the RGB switch in my case. Can I just splice the wires back together and will that work? Alternatively, is it possible to remove the connector from the cut wire and reattach it to the remaining wire since it's too long? I also know someone with a crimping tool for ethernet cables; can that be used here, and will the connector be reusable?

Any of those options will work. The wires just need to transmit the signals properly, and the connectors ensure a good touch without crossing paths. If you don't have the right tools to extract the old wire from the connector, you can just solder them back together, which is also a solid choice.
You can definitely replace the connector, but you'll need the right crimp tool and some terminals. The easiest fix for what you have is to splice the wires together and wrap each splice in electrical tape. It won't matter which wire goes where since it's just a switch—both wires serve the same function!
You'll need a "DuPont Crimper" to attach a two-pin machine-pin header socket to the end of the wire. It's easy to do, and I got mine on Amazon for about $20. It even came with a bunch of machine-pin headers and pins to work with!

I heard about that crimp tool for ethernet cables—would it work here? Is the connector reusable, or do I need to buy a new one?
