I want to start building apps with Flutter, but I'm not sure what learning order makes the most sense. Should I begin with Dart fundamentals, then move on to widgets and layouts, state management, APIs, databases, Git, or something else? I'd like to build a small project while learning, but I tend to get overwhelmed easily and lose motivation when there's too much to learn at once. What progression would you recommend for a complete beginner?

Start with the basics of Dart first. Learn variables, functions, classes, collections, null safety, and asynchronous code well enough to understand what your Flutter code is doing. After that, practice Flutter widgets and layouts by making simple, even imperfect screens. Once you’re comfortable building a basic UI, state management will be much easier to understand. Save APIs and databases for later so you’re learning concepts instead of just copying code.
Choose a small app idea and learn only what that project requires next. For example, start with a few static screens, then add buttons and navigation, followed by local state and simple forms. After you understand those fundamentals, move on to an API or database. You don’t need to master every Flutter topic before starting; keep the project small enough that you can finish each step and stay motivated.

That makes sense. I’m hoping I can build something small without getting overwhelmed—I’m still very new to programming, but I really want to make an app.
