I'm planning to build a PC tower in India with a budget of roughly $1,500–$1,600 equivalent. The main priority is 1440p gaming in demanding AAA and story-focused games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, Baldur's Gate 3, The Last of Us Part I, Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth, and future Tomb Raider titles. I'm especially interested in replaying Cyberpunk with cinematic and upscaling mods. The system will also be used for general productivity, media, and possibly some light local AI image or text generation, but gaming is by far the most important use case.
I already own a 1TB NVMe SSD, and the budget is for the tower only. I don't need a monitor or other peripherals, and I'm more interested in component-selection advice than an exact shopping list because Indian pricing can vary considerably.
The GPUs I'm considering are the Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB, Radeon RX 9070 16GB, and GeForce RTX 5070 12GB. The 9070 XT is my preferred choice if it can fit without forcing compromises elsewhere, but I'd choose the RX 9070 if it offers around 90–95% of the XT's performance for substantially less money. Current prices I'm seeing are approximately ₹76,900 for the 9070 XT and ₹66,400 for the 9070. I'm also considering Ryzen 5 processors including the 7500F, 7600X, and 9600X.
Would a Ryzen 5 7500F be sufficient for a 9070 or 9070 XT at 1440p, or would a faster CPU—possibly an X3D model—be a worthwhile investment? I'm looking for guidance on the CPU, AM5 motherboard, PSU, memory, cooling, and where it makes sense to save money. Longevity, thermals, reliability, upgradeability, and gaming performance matter much more to me than RGB or appearance. I'm open to other component combinations if they would produce a better-balanced system.

For a gaming-focused AM5 system, I’d compare the actual local prices of the Ryzen 5 7500F, 7600X, and an X3D chip rather than assuming the 7500F is automatically the best value. At 1440p the GPU will usually be the limiting factor, but an X3D processor can improve minimum frame rates and provide more headroom in CPU-heavy games. If the price gap is small, the X3D option is worth considering; otherwise, the 7500F or 7600X should be perfectly capable with either Radeon card.
For the rest of the build, a reasonably priced AM5 board with adequate VRMs is enough—there’s no need to pay for premium features you won’t use. DDR5-6000 with low latency, ideally around CL30, is a good target, although starting with 16GB and upgrading later can be reasonable if memory prices are high. Use a reputable 80+ Gold PSU from a reliable model line and size it appropriately for the chosen GPU. A basic tower cooler with good airflow is also sufficient for these CPUs.
A Ryzen 5 7600X with a solid AM5 motherboard would give you a good upgrade path, since you could later move to a faster processor without replacing the platform. For 1440p gaming, pair it with whichever Radeon card fits after pricing the complete build. The RX 9070 XT is ideal if the rest of the parts remain sensible, but the regular 9070 is probably the smarter value if the XT forces you to settle for less RAM, a weak PSU, or poor cooling.
Aim for 32GB of DDR5 if possible, even though 16GB can work initially. Two matched modules around DDR5-6000 are preferable. Your existing NVMe drive can handle storage duties, so the freed-up budget should go toward the GPU and a dependable power supply rather than cosmetic features.
The RTX 5070 may be worth considering if ray tracing, upscaling, or local AI workloads are especially important to you, since Nvidia’s software ecosystem can be useful for those tasks. For traditional rasterized 1440p gaming and longer-term comfort from having 16GB of VRAM, the RX 9070-series cards are more attractive. Check actual game settings and prices in your region rather than choosing solely by the model name.
For Cyberpunk, the RX 9070 should already be a major upgrade over a laptop GTX 1650-class system. The XT is faster, but the regular 9070 should still provide a much better experience with appropriate upscaling and ray-tracing settings.
The RX 9070 looks like the more balanced choice if the XT costs roughly ₹10,000 more. It should deliver very similar 1440p results while running cooler and leaving more of the budget for a stronger platform, quality power supply, and 32GB of memory. The XT makes sense if you specifically want the extra performance and can fit it without downgrading those parts.
A Ryzen 5 7500F paired with the 9070 is a sensible combination for 1440p. I’d only move to a faster CPU if the price difference is modest or if you expect to use a high-refresh monitor and play many CPU-limited games. Don’t cut corners on the PSU, case airflow, or motherboard just to reach the XT.
I’m willing to choose the RX 9070 if that gives me a better overall system. My main concern is getting a noticeably better Cyberpunk experience than I had on my old gaming laptop.

Is there any particular concern with ASRock boards? I’m also considering an ASRock graphics card, and the prices I’m seeing make the 7500F much cheaper than the 7600X or 9600X.
