I'm currently using an RTX 3070 with an Intel Core i7-10700K, but newer games are starting to struggle at 1440p. I want to upgrade the graphics card without replacing the CPU and would like the system to remain balanced for as long as possible. My budget is up to £1,000, and I'm only considering NVIDIA GPUs. What would be the best upgrade?

The RTX 5070 Ti is probably the strongest straightforward choice within your budget. It offers a substantial improvement over the RTX 3070 and should be a good match for 1440p. Your 10700K may limit performance in some high-refresh-rate or CPU-heavy games, but it shouldn’t prevent the card from being a worthwhile upgrade overall.
It’s worth checking prices on previous-generation cards before buying a new 50-series model. An RTX 4070 Super can be much cheaper while remaining close to the RTX 5070 in many games. If you find one at a good price, an RTX 4070 Ti Super or RTX 4080 could also offer excellent performance and more VRAM.
I’d compare the RTX 5070 Ti against discounted RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 cards. The 5070 Ti makes sense if you want to spend the full £1,000, but older 40-series cards may provide better value if local pricing is reasonable. For 1440p, any of those would be a major step up from the 3070.
