My PC is located somewhere that's difficult to access, and I'd like to copy files from it onto USB flash drives and SD cards without repeatedly going to the computer or running a long cable or hub. Is there a small wireless adapter or another simple setup I can connect once and leave in place?

You may also be able to use a phone or tablet as the middleman. With the appropriate USB adapter, it can read flash drives or SD cards and connect to a shared folder on the PC over Wi-Fi. Network sharing is usually more convenient than trying to find a universal wireless USB reader.
The simplest solution is probably to enable file sharing on the PC and transfer the files over your local network from another computer. You can then plug the USB drive or SD card into the device you’re using to copy the files.
A Wi-Fi SD card such as a Toshiba FlashAir can provide wireless access to files on the card itself. That could work if your main goal is getting files onto an SD card, though it won’t directly solve the USB-drive part.
If the PC is already connected to Wi-Fi, wouldn’t sharing the files over the network be easier and more flexible than using a wireless SD card?
That might work for the SD-card side of things. I’ll look into it.
