Where can I find an affordable or loaned laptop for school in Denmark?

I'm a teenager in Denmark, and my school is starting again with a requirement to have a laptop. The cost is difficult for me and my family, so I'm looking for legitimate options such as school lending programs, financial support, or affordable second-hand devices. I've seen websites in the United States offering free laptops to students, but I haven't found anything similar in Denmark or elsewhere in the EU. Does anyone know where I should look or who I should ask?

If you qualify for SU, it is general financial support rather than a dedicated laptop allowance, and an SU loan may be available in some cases. Your municipality may also consider help with necessary one-time expenses, depending on your age, household finances, benefits, and situation. Contact the school guidance office or kommune for advice specific to you.

There usually isn’t an automatic nationwide laptop payment, so it’s best to ask the school and municipality directly instead of relying on general claims online.

For schoolwork, you probably don’t need a powerful new machine. Ask your parents or guardians about a refurbished business laptop from a reputable seller, or look for a reliable used model that meets the school’s requirements. A few-year-old laptop with a solid battery, webcam, and supported operating system can be much cheaper.

Be careful with websites promising completely free laptops, since many are scams or require hidden fees. If you have a disability or condition that makes studying more difficult, ask your school about SPS support. It can sometimes cover assistive technology or computer-related equipment, although it is not a general laptop grant for low income.

Start by asking your school office, counselor, or IT department. Some Danish schools and municipalities lend laptops or Chromebooks to students, but the rules vary by school and education program. A public library or local youth service may also know about device-loan programs.

It’s worth checking whether the school lends one for the school year rather than assuming you need to buy one. Ask about the deposit, insurance, and what happens if it is damaged.
