I have a BSc in Biology and want to transition into an online career. I'm considering taking a course in web development, data analysis, or UI/UX design, but I'm not sure which path would be the best fit. My goal is to eventually find work-from-home or other online employment. Does my non-computer-science degree put me at a disadvantage, and which option would you recommend I start with?

Be realistic about the work-from-home goal. Fully remote junior roles are competitive, especially without professional experience, and you’ll usually need strong projects and a portfolio before employers take notice. Remote work may be possible later, but it shouldn’t be your only plan at the beginning.
Your biology degree doesn’t automatically disqualify you from any of these careers. Before paying for an expensive course, use free beginner materials to try each field briefly and see which type of work you actually enjoy. Then choose one path and build a portfolio with practical projects.
If you want a simple starting point, begin with one field for a few weeks rather than buying a course immediately. Web development is easy to sample with free HTML, CSS, and JavaScript lessons; data analysis can start with spreadsheets and basic SQL; UI/UX can start with design exercises and prototype tools. Continue with the option that holds your interest and produces work you can show employers.
