I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 5600, a Radeon RX 6700 XT, and 32GB of DDR4 memory. I'm considering spending up to $600 on a CPU, motherboard, and DDR5 memory bundle. The two options I found are a Ryzen 5 7600X bundle with 16GB of DDR5-6000 and a Core Ultra 5 250K Plus bundle with 32GB of DDR5-6000. The Intel option seems like the better value because it includes twice as much memory, but AMD's AM5 platform may offer a better upgrade path. I mostly play at ultrawide 1440p and occasionally play at 4K on an OLED TV. Which bundle makes more sense for gaming over the next few years?

For gaming, 32GB is the more sensible starting point, so I’d pick the Intel bundle between these two. However, your RX 6700 XT is likely to limit performance before the Ryzen 5 5600 does, especially at 4K. You may get a bigger improvement by keeping your current platform and putting the money toward a graphics card upgrade instead.
The Core Ultra 5 bundle looks like the better value here. It generally performs at least as well as the 7600X, and getting 32GB of DDR5 matters since 16GB is becoming restrictive in newer games. The main reason to choose the AMD bundle would be the possibility of upgrading the AM5 platform later, but that advantage may not outweigh the extra memory and stronger value of the Intel package.
That was my concern too. I’m mainly trying to make sure I’m not giving up too much long-term value by choosing the Intel bundle.
The best gaming value may be a Ryzen 5 7500X3D bundle if it’s available around $399, even if it only includes 16GB of memory. Its gaming performance should be ahead of both CPUs, particularly at 1440p in CPU-limited games. At 4K, though, the difference between these processors will usually be much smaller because the GPU becomes the limiting factor. The right choice depends heavily on the games you play and your graphics settings.

I may end up upgrading the GPU instead. That might make more noticeable difference at the resolutions I play.
