I'm upgrading from integrated graphics to a dedicated GPU and plan to stay on the AM4 platform with a Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X. I don't want to spend extra money moving to DDR5, and my total budget is around $1,300. I mainly play Minecraft with shaders at 1440p, but I also do video editing, 3D modeling, and some light coding. I'm considering an RTX 3080 Ti for about $411 new, an RTX 4070 Super for roughly $575 used, or an RTX 5070 for around $985–$1,232 new. The 5070 has recently become much more expensive, so I'm unsure whether it's worth continuing to save for it or choosing one of the other cards.

The 3080 Ti is tempting at $411, especially for 1440p Minecraft with shaders, editing, and 3D work. However, make sure the listing and warranty are legitimate, and account for the cost of a good power supply and extra electricity. If the card is genuinely new and covered by a warranty, it’s the cheapest performance option; otherwise, the 4070 Super is the safer long-term purchase.
Your Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X should pair well with any of these GPUs for 1440p. I wouldn’t keep saving for the RTX 5070 at $985–$1,232 unless its price drops significantly. Between the other two, choose the 4070 Super for efficiency and newer features, or the 3080 Ti only if maximizing performance per dollar is more important than power consumption and warranty coverage.
At those prices, the RTX 4070 Super is probably the best overall choice. The RTX 3080 Ti can offer similar performance, but it uses much more power—around 350W—and produces more heat. The 4070 Super is newer, more efficient, and has better feature support. The RTX 5070 may be the newest option, but paying close to $1,000 or more for it makes poor value sense when its performance is only moderately better.
That makes sense. I was mainly tempted by the 5070 because it’s newer, but the current pricing seems difficult to justify.
