My parents recently bought my sister and me a prebuilt PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 9070, 32GB of DDR5 memory, and a 2TB drive. It seems like a very capable system, and I mainly play lightweight games such as Geometry Dash, osu!, and Roblox rather than demanding AAA titles.
However, Geometry Dash frequently drops below 180 FPS when I enable V-Sync, even though my monitor runs at 180Hz. The frame rate fluctuates heavily, and after playing for a while I get a GPU crash report saying the driver timed out. Roblox also runs at only around 45 FPS with automatic graphics settings, which seems far too low for this hardware.
I have already tried general Windows optimization steps and started with a clean system. What could be causing these performance problems?

A 7800X3D and RX 9070 should have no trouble running Geometry Dash or Roblox at high frame rates. Once the monitor is connected directly to the graphics card, check Task Manager or AMD Adrenalin while a game is running to confirm that the RX 9070 is being used. After that, install the latest AMD graphics driver and use FreeSync or a driver-level FPS cap if you want a stable 180 FPS.
First, check where the DisplayPort cable is plugged in. It needs to be connected to one of the ports on the RX 9070, usually in the lower section of the back of the case—not the motherboard video output near the USB ports. If it is connected to the motherboard, the computer may be using the 7800X3D's basic integrated graphics instead of the dedicated GPU. That would explain the extremely low FPS. You can also enable FreeSync and use the frame limiter in AMD Adrenalin instead of relying on in-game V-Sync.
I was using DisplayPort, but I think I plugged it into the integrated graphics output instead of the actual graphics card. This is my first PC, so I didn't realize there was a difference.
