Why are Edge and Roblox using RAM when I haven’t opened them?

Start by checking Task Manager carefully, especially the Processes and Startup apps tabs. Edge can run background extensions, Startup Boost, or preloading processes even when no browser window is open. In Edge, open Settings, search for “Startup boost” and “continue running background extensions and apps,” and turn those options off. Also disable Edge and Roblox-related entries under Task Manager’s Startup apps if you don’t need them launching with Windows.

A program showing memory usage doesn’t automatically mean it is harming performance—Windows will use available RAM for caching, and 16 GB is normally enough for everyday use. However, a drop from 64 FPS to 25 FPS is worth investigating separately. Check Task Manager while the slowdown happens for CPU, GPU, disk, temperature, and memory usage, and look for another process consuming resources. Also check whether the laptop is overheating or switching to a power-saving mode.

If Roblox keeps returning after you end it, look for its launcher, updater, or scheduled task rather than only ending the visible process. Disable its automatic startup entry or uninstall it if you no longer use it. Don’t randomly change BIOS or disk settings; first identify the exact process responsible and run a malware scan if an unfamiliar executable is repeatedly restarting.
