I'm using an iPhone 16 Pro with T-Mobile. Cellular service is enabled, and I can still make calls, send texts, and receive notifications, but apps and other features that require an internet connection don't work whenever I'm disconnected from Wi‑Fi. What should I check?

First, check the Cellular Data toggle in Control Center or Settings. It’s separate from the phone’s general cellular signal, so calls, texts, and some notifications can still work while mobile data is disabled. If it’s already enabled, check whether a VPN is active—some VPNs can interfere with data or hit a separate usage limit, and they may need to be disabled from their own app. Finally, the issue could be weak coverage or temporary carrier deprioritization/throttling.
I still receive notifications, but I can’t use anything that requires an internet connection.

I’m currently in the Outer Banks, if that helps narrow it down.
