My Asus Vivobook is about a year old and has recently started shutting down unexpectedly whenever it isn't plugged in, even when Windows says the battery is fully charged. Afterward, it usually won't start unless I connect the original charger. The charger works normally and the laptop runs while plugged in. I haven't treated the device roughly, so I'm not sure whether this is a battery problem or something else. Since I rely on it for work, I'd appreciate advice on diagnosing the issue and figuring out whether it can be repaired under warranty.

This sounds very likely to be a failing battery, even if the displayed percentage says 100%. A worn or defective battery can report an incorrect charge level and then suddenly lose power when the charger is removed. In Windows, generate a battery health report to check its design capacity versus its current full-charge capacity. You should also contact Asus or the retailer, since a one-year-old laptop may still be covered by warranty and the battery or another power component could be replaced.
Before opening the laptop yourself, check the warranty. Many regions provide at least two years of consumer protection, and the manufacturer may have its own coverage as well. Explain that it shuts down as soon as it is unplugged and will only boot with the original charger connected. Support can run diagnostics and determine whether the battery, charging circuitry, or another component needs replacement. Back up your work first in case the device has to be sent in for repair.

What would the warranty service usually do in this situation? Would they replace a specific part, such as the battery?
