Why does Siri think my AirPods are my truck’s stereo?

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 12 mini to an iPhone 17 Pro Max. Today was my first time using my AirPods with the new phone, and when I asked Siri to adjust the volume, Siri said the action couldn't be completed and told me to use the volume controls on my vehicle's stereo instead. I've already unlinked both the AirPods and my truck, but the problem hasn't gone away. How can I get Siri to recognize the AirPods correctly?

Check the Bluetooth device settings and make sure the AirPods are assigned the correct device type. You can usually do this by opening Settings, selecting Bluetooth, tapping the info button next to the device, and looking for the Device Type option.

I checked the info page for the AirPods under Bluetooth, but it only opens the usual AirPods settings and I don’t see a Device Type option there.
