Why Has My Patriot P400 Lite SSD Health Dropped to 75% So Quickly?

My Patriot P400 Lite 1TB NVMe SSD is already reporting 75% health after only about a month and a half of use. The drive is installed in a system with a Ryzen 7 5700, RTX 5060, and 32GB of RAM. I mainly use the computer for gaming and video editing. CrystalDiskInfo shows firmware KM0E0A8B, a temperature of 45°C, PCIe 3.0 x4 transfer mode, 8,741GB total host reads, and 5,334GB total host writes. I'm new to PC hardware and want to know whether this points to a firmware issue, unusually heavy usage, or a defective drive. I'd also like to know what I should check before contacting support or replacing it.

The 75% figure is only a summary of the drive’s SMART data. The important details are in the full NVMe SMART/health-information section, including percentage used, media errors, critical warnings, unsafe shutdowns, and any error counts. Post or inspect that complete data before assuming the drive is failing. Also make sure anything important is backed up now.

A defective SSD is possible, especially if the health percentage keeps dropping unusually fast or the SMART data shows media or integrity errors. Since the drive is relatively new, record the current SMART information, monitor it, and use the manufacturer or retailer warranty if errors appear or the health continues to decline.

The drive has written about 5.3TB, but that alone does not mean it is nearly worn out. The P400 Lite’s endurance rating is around 560TBW, so 5.3TB is only a small fraction of the rated writes. Host reads do not normally consume the same endurance rating. Video editing, game installs, updates, and temporary files can create more writes than expected, but this still sounds more like a SMART interpretation issue or a faulty drive than normal wear after six weeks.

The manufacturer’s endurance rating is listed as 560TBW, so I was also surprised that the health reading had already fallen this far. I’ll check the complete SMART information and back up my files before contacting support.
