I recently opened an AWS account and selected the Free Tier. During setup, I authorized a UPI autopay mandate for ₹15,000, and I'm worried that amount might be charged automatically. A UPI autopay authorization is not necessarily an immediate ₹15,000 payment. AWS normally bills for actual usage, but the exact behavior of the mandate depends on your account and payment setup. Review the authorization details in your UPI app and contact AWS Support if you need confirmation about when it can be used or how to cancel it.
AWS doesn’t have one universal “free plan.” Each service has its own pricing and Free Tier limits. You generally aren’t charged just for opening the account, but charges can appear if you exceed a limit or use a service that isn’t covered. Check the Billing console and set up billing alerts so you’ll know about unexpected usage.
Be careful even when using the Free Tier. A small project can involve several services—such as compute, storage, networking, disks, snapshots, or data transfer—and some may not be free.
