I'm looking to upgrade my aging Precision Mobile Workstation, which currently has a 17.3" 4K screen. I spend about 12 hours a day in front of it, so I'm pondering my options with the new Dell machines. They don't have any 17.3" 4K models anymore; the closest I can get is a 16" 4K (Pro Max). Alternatively, there's an 18" Pro Max, but its resolution drops to 2560x1600. I'm in a bit of a dilemma here:
a) Would I notice any difference moving from my current 4K 17.3" screen to a 4K 16" screen?
or
b) What would it be like switching from my 4K 17.3" to the WQXGA 18"? Would the larger size help even though the resolution is lower? Would I end up with less usable screen space?

I've been using my 17.3" 4K and trust me, you'll notice the size more than the resolution. Most apps scale well these days, but some older ones might struggle if you go lower resolution. Honestly, I'd stick with the 17.3" at 4K or even a 2K option. There's not really a reason to drop to 16"—it might be tough on your eyes! I’d prefer a bigger screen any day, even if it was heavy.
Totally agree! The difference in size will be noticeable. If you set the Precision to 3840x2400 with 200% scaling, it might look decent, but 2560x1600 may indeed feel somewhat fuzzy. You'll probably miss the clarity if you switch to a smaller screen.
